Choline
An essential nutrient for the brain, liver, and cell membranes. It's especially important in pregnancy, and many prenatals contain little.
Commonly used for

- Liver health
- Memory and focus
- Low intake from a plant-based or egg-free diet
Found naturally in
- Egg yolks
- Beef liver
- Beef, chicken, and fish
- Soybeans
- Broccoli and Brussels sprouts
Label red flags
- Prenatals that list choline but provide only a small amount
- Labels that list the compound weight instead of the choline it provides
Check with a provider
- Pregnancy. Choline matters, so ask which form and how much is right for you.
- Trimethylaminuria (a condition that causes a fishy body odor)
- A fishy body odor, sweating, or stomach upset can be signs of too much
